Adrian Peterson
For the project, edges I have chosen to look at the work of Adrian Peterson, as a range of edges are shown within his work. In particular, I like the photograph to the left, which shows the textured, shaped edge of leaves. By using a close-up, you can see the immense detail of the leaves, including the tiny hairs around the edge that appear white, possibly due to the black and white layer that has been added during editing. This is a naturalistic photograph that focuses on the surreal edges and detail within nature. This photograph has been taken amongst nature, so it is likely that it was captured using natural light. This photograph has been edited so it appears in black and white, this is effective as it enhances the edges, in particular the leaf in the foreground appears lighter than the others, making the edges bolder. The photographer has developed this photograph from bright and colourful, to a more dark image, which makes you focus on the features of the leaves. |
The edge of the leaf in the foreground strikes me as the most interesting part of the photograph as it contrasts with the leaves in the background.
I think the photographer took this photo because the leaves are an interesting subject matter; the detail and lines of the plant are clear in this photograph and the editing has only enhanced this. |
The editing is effective in this photograph as the detail on the leaves has been amplified. This photograph has encouraged me to add different layers in editing to develop the photograph and potentially change the mood completely, in addition to enhancing certain details.

His workThis photograph shows a wide range of edges, from the delicate blossom to the rough edges of the tree bark. This photograph will influence my work as I would like to show a variety of edges in nature.
|
His workThis photograph features many different edges, of a range of shapes and sizes. This will influence my work as I would like to take photographs featuring wood and also of edges with a variety of shapes and sizes.

His workThis photograph features the ragged edge of rock, that has been eroded by the pure force of water, that is shown flowing over and amongst the rocks. This will influence my photographs as it has encouraged me to look at a wider range of edges, that are also formed and shaped naturally.
